A Message from Principal Swanson

Our mission at American Classical Charter Academy is to develop within our students a foundation of virtue and knowledge by delivering a rigorous, classical, liberal arts education with a strong emphasis on the rights and duties of American citizenship. Our mission is what guides our decisions, actions, and motivation at ACCA. Every day presents another opportunity to live a virtuous life and grow our knowledge base. That is why we are intentional about utilizing every minute of every day.

Along with that mission, I would like to introduce our new vision statement… “Learn. Lead. Change the World!” Not only do we want students at ACCA to demonstrate virtue, knowledge, and respect for our country, we want them to become leaders in our community and our world! When students are empowered by the knowledge they receive from a classical education, they will have the skills, knowledge, characteristics, and leadership qualities to bring about lasting change. My promise to you is that ACCA will continually work to develop our student’s knowledge base and instill the necessary values that will give our students the tools they need to be successful in an ever-changing society.

Upcoming Events

  • 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, October 29 – Parent/Teacher Conferences (located in the cafeteria)
  • 6:30 PM, November 5 – November PSP Meeting
  • 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, November 11 – Veteran’s Day Program

Reminders

  • PLEASE KEEP IN MIND! If your child has a fever, they must be fever free for 24-hours prior to returning to school. The flu can look a lot like a cold. If they are experiencing muscle pain, fatigue, chills, and a high fever, please seek medical treatment. We want all our children to stay healthy this flu season!
  • Now that we are in the second quarter, students should start to be familiar with their weekly routines. Please make sure your student knows which clubs they are enrolled in and on which days. If your student is not going to be attending their weekly club, please do your best to let us know so we can keep them in carline rather than sending them to their club.
  • Our Yankee Candle Fundraiser continues through October 30th! All funds raised will go towards improving the resources available to our students in the classroom.
  • You may have noticed a change to the end of our e-mails in our recent contacts with you. Our new e-mail domain is now: @accaschools.org This is to match our brand new website address which is: accaschools.org
Hopefully, you will find this shorter site easier to remember and type!

ACCA News, September 2019 Newsletter

As we head into the month of October, I want to express my appreciation for the fantastic families we have at ACCA. Education is not only a lifelong endeavor, but a process that involves parents, teachers, friends and relatives. We all have a responsibility to help ensure that the students at ACCA receive an outstanding education. I believe that it is important for students to have the necessary skills to land a good job someday, however, education is not simply about vocational training. It is about becoming a person of integrity; a person who strives towards excellence; and a person who is willing to serve others in order to make this world a better place.

That is one reason why we are implementing the RAISE values and curriculum at ACCA. RAISE stands for Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. Students will be learning about these characteristics through their everyday classes and will be taking a deeper look at these characteristics with Mrs. Brown on Fridays. Staff members will be on the lookout for students who demonstrate these characteristics in specific ways throughout the week. Those students will be eligible to receive a RAISE award. Students who earn a RAISE award will be honored on Monday mornings with a certificate. In this way, we will continue to establish a culture of excellence at ACCA.

Upcoming Events

  • 6:30 PM, October 1 – October PSP Meeting
  • October 4 – Picture Day! Don’t forget your Friday dress-up uniform
  • October 11 – End of First Quarter
  • October 14 & 15 – No School
  • 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, October 29 – Parent/Teacher Conferences (located in the cafeteria)
  • 6:30 PM, November 5 – November PSP Meeting
  • 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, November 11 – Veteran’s Day Program

Reminders

  • We have a fantastic car loop at ACCA as well as brand new sod on our campus. It is very important for parents to demonstrate respect towards our school by keeping their car on the pavement.
  • School begins promptly at 8:00 AM. Our goal is for every student to be on campus by 7:55 AM so they have time to participate in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance as well as the Preamble to the Constitution. This is an important part of our school day and it’s important for every student to participate.
  • Overall, students are doing a great job adhering to the dress code! Remember, when wearing a polo, shirts should be tucked into pants. Also, if you have not yet purchased the formal Friday uniform, please do so soon. Students will need it for picture day as well as the upcoming Veterans Day program.

Clubs @ ACCA

Mr. Duncan felt it would better serve our 3rd graders to work with the older students. For that reason, we have decided to move the 3rd graders into the Thursday music club. If this is a logistical problem for any of our current families, please let us know and we will work with you!

8/30/2019, 1:30 pm

Parents and families,

The school will be closed on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Updates will follow.

As Hurricane Dorian is approaching Florida, we are carefully monitoring its trajectory. We are working with local officials to understand the appropriate measures that need to be in place to ensure the safety of all our students and families. The current storm projections suggest strong winds and substantial rainfall for our area. As we look into the weekend, the campus will not be accessible on Saturday or Sunday. As we recognize Labor Day, Monday, September 2, there is no school scheduled on this day. Given the most recent forecast at 1:00PM today, school will not be held on Tuesday, September 3.

We will keep you updated as information becomes available. The safety of your students is our top priority. We thank you for your trust and continued support. If you are monitoring the news and hear that the School District of Osceola County is closed, then we will also be closed. If you have any questions regarding this information, please give us a call at 407-593-2909. We hope everyone stays safe this weekend and that we are able to resume school as usual on Tuesday!

Please make it a point to monitor one of three communication methods we have established:

  1. Monitor updates on this post/check for pop-up notifications on our homepage.
  2. Like and follow our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/accaschools/.
  3.  See the flyer in your student’s backpack for “Remind” text message updates.
