How does the lottery and waitlist work?

At any grade level, if the number of applicants exceeds the number of openings, enrollment is determined by a lottery and waitlist numbers. The Controlled Open Enrollment period for American Classical Charter Academy is NOT first-come, first-served. Only applications completed during the Controlled Open Enrollment period are included in the lottery pool. Applications submitted after the Controlled Open Enrollment period has ended will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, behind applications received during the Controlled Open Enrollment period.

  • An annual lottery is determined based on the number of available seats and if applicants exceed capacity at any grade level.

  • The annual lottery date will be posted on ACCA's website with the date.

  • No results will be given at the time of the lottery. All applicants within the lottery will be notified of the results within 5 business days.

  • If a seat becomes available, students will be selected and notified in the order of the established waitlist.

  • Offered applicants that fail to provide the correct documentation in the allotted time will forfeit their seat to the next available applicant.

Open Enrollment Procedures and Lottery

If ACCA receives applications in excess of capacity, a random lottery will be performed to determine which applicants will be enrolled in the school. Learn more about our lottery procedures by visiting FLDOE
